Boozier than Oktoberfest, more drive than a Volkswagen and with more sausage than a bratwurst convention, Hans is Germany’s proudest export.
An international superstar, sex symbol, accordionist and Berlin boy-wonder, Hans has been thrilling audiences around the globe with his own fabulous brand of critically acclaimed cabaret for over a decade, performing for everyone from Prime Ministers to Princesses, paupers and paper boys.
In 2017 Hans won the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Award for Best Cabaret, and has been the winner of several Adelaide Fringe Festival awards over the years, including Best Cabaret at both the Adelaide Fringe Festival and Perth Fringe Festival.
In 2018 this wonder boy from Berlin won the hearts of 16 million Americans with his cheeky and electrifying song and dance routines on the juggernaut American talent series America’s Got Talent. Hans was much loved amongst judges Mel B, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and host Tyra Banks. As Hans put it, “Darlings, I went there to make America glitter again. It was calling and I answered!”
Hans returned to London and the Edinburgh Fringe again in 2018 and also appeared at Budapest’s famous Sziget Festival with Like A German, which sold out and was praised by critics.
His most recent productions, Viva Hans Vegas (2016), Mein Camp (2017) and If You Don’t Love Me…Leave! (2018) have all been praised by audiences and critics alike. Hans was named “Pick Of The Fringe” at the Adelaide Fringe awards in 2018.
Hans is the official ambassador for the 2019 Adelaide Fringe Festival with Judith Lucy and Gavin Wanganeen, and is currently preparing for his 2019 appearances across Australia, the UK and the US.
Hans is the creation of Adelaide born Matt Gilbertson, himself an accomplished journalist who has worked in print, radio and television.
